A site that has been planned as a riverfront revival area is due to get a little cleaning. The state of Ohio will be choosing a demolition and abatement crew for the former Mercy Hospital site.

Plans have been laid for the site that used to house the Mercy Hospital in Hamilton, Ohio. A new riverfront attraction, with businesses and opportunities for more jobs would be an exciting way to incite the local economy. The only problem is the existing building on the site, which contains tons of hazardous asbestos. Almost 50 local and national demolition crews have bid on the multi-million dollar contract, and local officials are hoping that the work will proceed shortly.

The removal of asbestos is a necessary step in demolition, since the improper removal could result in putting thousands of residents in danger. Any demolition crew being consider for the Mercy Hospital site will have to be certified in asbestos abatement and renovation, in order to keep the public safe. The abatement and construction of the new riverfront will create more than a dozen jobs, while the finished product will supply room for more than 50 new businesses.
