Directory Launched for Asbestos Professionals

Recent high profile news stories have prompted a new desire for asbestos professionals all over the country. What was once a small, local demand has now turned into a service that needs a national directory.
An online industry directory has been formed for the public where people can find asbestos professionals. Whether the problem is detection or abatement, each company will be screened for guideline adherence and licensing, providing a safe way of finding asbestos services. Though the directory is based in the UK, many US providers have joined the directory in order to give the public a place to turn when asbestos has become a problem.
The UK directory has also led to talks about a national and state level directory offering the same screening and assurance in America. Recent publicity over asbestos and the dangers of the material have sparked concern nationwide over existing asbestos and the people that handle the material. By providing a service where all professionals involved would be licensed, insured and trained, the US would be able to provide a safer alternative to “yellow page” decisions in regards to a potentially deadly material. If handled incorrectly, asbestos can break into airborne fibers and may result in respiratory conditions and cancer.
