A free listing being offered to asbestos victims needs doctors to refer to. The website will offer information, assistance and referrals for people suffering from asbestos related cancer.

America’s Watchdog, an advocacy group for consumers, has launched a website offering assistance and information to victims of asbestos-related diseases. Focusing mainly on mesothelioma cases, the site is looking for doctors or hospitals that treat the cancer to list on their site. Pulmonologist, pathologists, oncologists and thoracic surgeons are being recruited to list on the site for free, with the main concern being to inform and assist those living with asbestos-related diseases.

The site will be state specific, so individuals will be able to look up providers within their own area. America’s Watchdog hopes that local media will cover some of the practices and hospitals that are listed to generate awareness of the site and of the diseases. The need for practitioners that specialize in mesothelioma is growing every year as more people are diagnosed with the cancer. Mesothelioma is a result of asbestos exposure and is a result of fibers lodging in the lung tissue. The tissue dies, leaving the lung unable to absorb oxygen over a period of years. Mesothelioma often takes years or decades to manifest, and is usually incurable at the time of detection.
