Arkansas Municipal Auditorium roof work to begin in summer

Work on replacing the roof at the Arkansas Municipal Auditorium has been slowed for two reasons: Lack of capital to pay for the costs of construction and the discovery of asbestos. AMAC president Frank Poff says that "Naturally, that mushrooms the project."

Due to the increase in building supplies since Hurricane Katrina, the commission has had to divide the project into three phases with phase one starting this summer. The city of Texarkana, AK was awarded a $77,000 last year. As part of the grant, AMAC is to raise an additional $38,000. They have already raised $30,000 and are looking for additional donations.

The commission will try to meet their fund raising goals by contacting previous donators. A local artist has kindly assisted in the fund raising efforts. Dean Lynn has donated signed and numbered prints of the auditorium for the commission to sell. Each print will be given for every $50 donation.
