The Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) is holding its Second Annual National Asbestos Awareness Day Conference on April 1st, a time to recognize those who raise their voices for victims of asbestos exposure.
The honorees for the Tribute of Unity, Tribute of Hope and Tribute of Inspiration Awards to be presented at the second annual Asbestos Awareness Day Conference were released today. The conference will be held at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, and will recognize honorees for their outstanding work to asbestos related activities. Two lifetime achievement awards will be a new addition to the ceremony this year, related to the research of asbestos related diseases including mesothelioma, the deadly lung cancer caused by asbestos exposure.
Mesothelioma, a cancer of the lungs, is a result of breathing in air born particles of asbestos fiber, a material that was widely used until the mid 1980s in insulation and construction. People that are exposed to the material can also be affected with other breathing related disease including emphysema, but mesothelioma is the deadliest of the diseases related to asbestos exposure. The Honorable Chuck Strahl, P.C, M.P will be recognized for his grace in coping with his mesothelioma, as well as his research into the disease.
